• The Science: How Does it Work?
  • Botox (Allergan), Dysport (Medicis) and Jeuveau (Evolus) are different brand names for what is essentially the same substance, bacterium Clostridium Botulinum or Botulinum Toxin A. They are injectable neuromodulators – injectable meaning they are injected into the muscle, and neuromodulator meaning they temporarily alter the nerve impulses to targeted muscles. This procedure can reduce or eliminate contraction-induced wrinkles such as frown lines and crow’s feet.Botox, Dysport and Jeuveau temporarily paralyze muscle movements that cause wrinkles. The most common targets are horizontal lines across the forehead and perpendicular frown lines between the brows – also called “The Elevens.” Botox, Dysport, and Jeuveau can also be used to target crow’s feet, nasal squint lines, lines around the neck, eyebrow lifting and even profuse underarm sweating and migraines.
• The Process
  • Most patients report little to no pain during treatment, but a topical anaesthetic can be applied beforehand if desired. The nerve signals are blocked, relaxing the muscle that makes the wrinkle. The majority of wrinkles are softened, leaving you with smooth skin.

• Recovery & Results
  • Results are typically seen between 7 – 10 days, with full results in 2 – 3 weeks after treatment. Over time, you may require fewer treatments as the muscles contract less frequently and the injections prevent new wrinkles from forming. For the most part, results last around 4 – 6 months.
